1. There seems to be at least a little bit of randomness in her mood or maybe just her responses. This is especially noticeable at the beginning when I am PRETTY confident of all my moves so far. For example, if my first move after introduction is to say something funny, sometimes she says "THAT was funny - say something about me" and sometimes she just laughs. Question: should I be watching her responses and modifying my moves, or does this starting condition drop out of importance pretty quickly?

2. On sort of a related topic, a couple of the walkthroughs suggest to start the conversation with a compliment, but (just who I am, I guess) I prefer to start with something funny. It seems like a HUGE project to research how much difference it makes, but maybe you've already done it?

Can somebody PLEASE help. I have tryed to follow all below and still can not get the threesome. If I take her to the beach in a non romantic mood she falls in the water and tells me to take her home. THE END.

I am ASTOUNDED!! First, I would NEVER have expected to get this kind of assistance from an on-line community.

Second, I understand that the author (creator, whatever) of the game is pretty deeply under cover so noone's entirely sure who it is. Given this fact, it seems unlikely that he (she?) would share programming notes like what I just downloaded. That means that somebody did some SERIOUS reverse engineering to figure out this little navigation chart. (I have to imagine that, if such a chart exists for the entire game, it must be a spectacular thing to behold!!)

Seems the lagoon is populated by some pretty dedicated people! May be able to learn something - THANKS qbv8!

First: The lagoon is a special place, and politely asking questions is always honoured with help (if possible at all). You are not alone.

Second: Well, it is not so much reverse engineering as just digging through the source code that is open, and structuring the information therein. In fact, the whole game has about 1800 nodes, so a whole chart of the game could pretty much cover the walls of your home

Whatever Arnulf says, the real truth is, that a certain well known giant here in this lagoon is occupied the whole day in dumping ever new requirements to UP17 on my head.

If you read his post above correctly, Arnulf says 'qbv8 cannot take the "Sleep of the just" before we haven't finished UP17', which reads to "I do not allow qbv8 to sleep before we haven't finished UP17". And he uses the term "Sleep of the just". This is a literal translation of the German "Schlaf des Gerechten" which in the german language denotes a deep sleep without pangs of conscience. So by using this term, Arnulf implies my obligation to fulfill a task which I have not completed yet, and therefore my conscience does not allow me to sleep.

And no wonder, if you get a huge list of "to be implemented" at 00:30, deliver the results around 3:00 and the first feedback in the morning is "I don't know why you constantly ignore requirement 5 paragraph 2 sentence 3"

To give you a hint: ever heard about the cyclops Polyphemos? My former boss Odysseus has told the story to the public, and I think a person named Homer wrote it down and turned it into a bestseller. But Odysseus, the astute, did not tell the whole truth, or Homer did not write it down correctly, I don't know. Fact is, that they left someone behind, and guess what: it's me. Now about 3000 years later, Polyphemos changed his name, has equipped his island with computers, and lurks around in the lagoons nearby, hunting sirenes from time to time.

And he has fallen in love some time ago to a certain Ariane, which is a princess unknown and far, far away. As Polyphemos (or should I just call him giant) can not get her to visit him on this island, he has somehow captured her virtual diary, which is not yet completely readable. And this is the reason why he recently forced me to work day and night on this diary to reveal piece by piece the life and adventures of Ariane in Ariane's World - episode by episode (in ancient greek it is "upisode", therefore UPxx).

Ohhh, life can be sooooo hard if you are the poooor victim of a giant ...

I hope the Lagoon Brain Trust isn't wasting time figuring out how to incorporate Parcheesi into the next UP.  Instead, there are some unexplored territories out there, like the Movie Theater, and lots of houses that could host parties for Ariane and us to crash....

Excellent idea, cowboyblob. No, we will not care about parchesi, that remains untouched. Instead, we have tons of other options in the package ... just running on the final mile before the UP17 marathon ends ...

Your suggestions are very welcome for further extensions. And if anybody else wants to throw ideas in: very welcome, go ahead, you might find the one or the other of your ideas one day in the game.

coder, respect for your nice German! Seriously it is a complicated thing to use the correct endings and word constructions, but a very potent help for understanding foreigners is the fact that the German language nearly consists of significant word-torsos so the the meaning is to be understood even if the grammar is a bit faulty.

Felix you are always welcome with your "Bible" you can take, whatever you want. (by the way, the Pink-Floyd Venice show has only a very short survival time remaining at Rapidshare!)
